The cattle baron

Second time here the first I didn't like it at all. This time was better but not perfect. For the Houston but added blue cheese. Very tasty. But question said brisket blend burger. I know it's not cooked smoked brisket probably ground with meat. Well I could tell the difference at all. Was a bit over priced for it too.

Next time ill get the blue and just add an AG. Oh and the first half was better. That's where all the good stuff was the egg and cheese slide over to one side

But maybe I'm a burger perfectionist

The Abi-haus

Ok tried his place for free lunch Friday. Got the abi burger cooked medium, well asked for medium anyway, with Gorgonzola cheese. The little bitty blob just added flavor to the middle bites. The bread and butter pickles did add some zing.

The staff is rude and snobby and didnt like them at all. The place is small so can be a wait. The chairs should have warning signs, we all almost fell.
The put small bottle water on table for four so they didn't have to come back I guess.

Over all... Wasn't impressed at all! Over priced and rude people with mediocre food. I'll leave this to try it if ya want but better hurry.

So its Friday morning and hours before lunch, but I cant stop thinking about it. No breakfast and I am hungry. So what will it be today? Burger? Tacos? Good old home cooking? You tell me Abilene where we going?

Enjoying a bottle of Texas wine

Don Enriques review

After a full day of driving and now hungry again, we noticed that Don Enriques had opened AGAIN. This place was Enriques, then Amanda's, then back to Enriques then I think kitchen fire and tried to sell it. The place never sold so back to original Enriques.
So we walk in and were greeted friendly, always a plus, and asked how many, but said how about the bar. She walks up back and things had changed since last time, still very open and inviting but nicer looking and colors. The bar has several drink specials and of course I had to try a few. I will recommend the Mexican Martini, very nice!

So after a few drinks I need to snack, chip and salsa! Ok chips were thicker than what I care for and a tad stale, but the hot sauce....addicting. It starts sweet then moves to the heat and good flavor.
Now more drinks and music, wheres it coming from? There is a guy sitting in the corner like a one man show singing. Ok not bad few more of these martinis I'll be dancing.

Ok need food now, got one of the signature items Tres Colores, 5 mins later food here, um WHAT??? The beans look several days old and have a crust! The rice, taste...dry, enchilada one the cheese with green sauce....ok the sauce crusted across the plate..eewww.
Ok the chicken with sour cream sauce...this is canned chicken! I can taste it, i open it up and its flaky, um flaky chicken? One more the beef, oh god, meat bad super salty and bad flavor.

Ok what have we learned? First off great bar and service was excellent, however, people will wait for good food don't rush it. Some shortcuts in the kitchen is ok but in Texas we like our Mexican food and this was not it. I'm curious how to categorize this place really because I don't even want to say its Mexican food.

I wish them the best, and there is alot of military and college that aren't from Texas that might like this place. But please don't think this is how all Mexican food is.

GO HAVE A DRINK THOUGH, THOSE ARE GREAT!

Ok this place was here ten sold then kitchen fire now reopened under original owners. So of course local mexican food have to check it out. Having a

Ok that was probably the best cheese burger I have ever had! Yall know I eat alot of burgers, so this will be hard to ever beat from now one. Found the new grading curve it's Storms!

Headed to Austin let me know where we should stop. Just a day trip not alot of time but going to make the best of it.

The Cattle Baron in Abilene,Tx

So based on others, and Yelpers I decided to go to the Cattle Baron and try a burger, you know me a burger! We walked in and noticed place looked "baronish" , greeted friendly at the door and then walked all the way past all the tables and taken to a back room, mind you were only ones here.
 I was like "sweet" they've heard of me and I'm getting special treatment....nope. So the hostess leaves and waitress walks up takes order all normal here. Menu has burgers named after Texas cities, kinda cool, other than the meatless "Dallas" lol stupid Dallas, jk.
 We get the onion rings for an appetizer, recommended by our server saying they were her favorite thing they had...note: should have taken notice a bit closer. After about 5 min she walks back up and tells us might be longer because they cut batter and fry to order the rings. Ok! now a bit more excited.

Onion rings were best thing I had. The fries were ok the burger nope good try. The meat only had a charcoal burned flavor but looked and wasn't burnt. The staff needs alot of training. And why I'd it that I always get a huge family with small kids RIGHT NEXT TO ME!  The hostess sat families at every table all the way around me. Rest of place was empty!!

After the meal we go to leave and the owner/manager? asked us how meal was. I told him same thing I'm telling you now and instead of being apologetic like I was expecting he just didn't seem too concerned. However said he would look into whats going on in the back.

My suggestions to the Cattle Baron, presentation was spot on! A but lets work on the quality. What food looks like gets you first bite, taste is what brings us back. Meat to bun ratio, bread was good and pretty but patty too flavorless and small.

Suggestions to Travelers, Go and try for yourself let me know, maybe it was just my experience. But now I'm leery about another chance.

Almost ten hours into smoking an everything is still going on schedule. Going to be good. Bad thing with this catering I can't eat it all.

On our trip to Lubbock we visited many places and a few wineries at that. We had actually been To Cap Rock several years back and loved the grounds and building but only liked one of the wines we tried. This time we were with friends and wanted to show them how pretty the place was and said don't expect too much from the wine we didn't care for it last time.
    We go in and did have to wait a little because there were a few people there, but no big deal gave me time to take pictures.  Once we stepped up, everything was easily explained and staff was very friendly.
We tried several wines and I tell you....I loved most of them! The Orange Muscat is unbelievable.
We were the last ones in there and kept talking and I explained that I was reviewing for Yelp and that I have my growing website. Rusty was great, he helped with questions and the history of the winery and soon to be vineyard. He took us on the tour and we talked way past closing.
    The grounds are beautiful and they are setting up different events (check their calendar on website) along with rooms for whatever. There are picture perfect scenes for weddings or just a romantic kiss.
    If you had gone in the past and didn't have a good experience, take my word for it, give them another another try I really dont think you'll be disappointed. Cap Rock is now female owned and seems very involved with her business.
Yelp wouldn't allow me to give five stars however I would have mostly for the staff, grounds..oh yea and the wine.  Stop by and have a glass of wine and relaxhttp://www.caprockwinery.com//index.cfm

Candles are lit, table cloths ironed, shirt pressed, wine open and the wood grill is fired up. Step into a quite near perfect evening. Start it off with a Key lime martini and then move to the calamari served in a martini glass. The next course a crisp green salad now the main coarse. Many to choose from and the steaks are really good. Always the perfect wine to go with whatever you choose. The steaks are amazing, the fish is delicious and sure whatever they have as a special is top notch.

     The service has always been great and if you have a special occasion tell them during the reservation and (for an extra charge of course) they have flowers or notes set up for you. The perfect romantic evening is awaiting your call at Copper Creek.

Now, with all that said.....you will pay for all this.

Abilene Texas

Well good morning! I think today I will search out a new place, maybe a place to eat or snack, maybe it'll it'll be... I don't know yet. I've been to just about everywhere here. They're opening new places all the time though.

I you didn't know a new Chic-fli-li is opening north side and a Heffs burger. The north side going to get crowded. I haven't added a review on Heffs so you might not know what that is. Hmm ok I'll put it in just cause.

Bad citizen

So this realtor randy Dodd. Has been going around town posting things on YouTube and yelp foursquare. At first they look nice for him to make money. But when you see his comments and pics it shows a darker side. This pic came from a YouTube video he could make money off of. And at a family place is this ok?

So still uploading and syncing, kinda a pain learning all this, I sure would rather be on the road
